What Is Real on Substack?
Your level of freedom and your definition of women are on the list now...
What people think reality is mostly in their minds, but it still exists. “Thinking positively” is not going to save this deer from a truck, but jumping off the road might.
Deepfakes are all over the place; in movies, on Skype, on the phone, and on TV, impersonating people who might even be dead by now (services to keep your friends or family members “alive” as conversational partners have been around for about four years). In the last seven days or so, several authors on Substack complained about crooks impersonating them, but not to the extent of writing articles for them. Still, I am growing suspicious that posting fake articles might be happening, too…
Please, notice that I am not trying to accuse anyone of anything; I noticed the following two articles only because I like the authors and I read them, so my point is to focus on the possibility of deepfakes even on Substack.
What is your “freedom score”?
Tess Lawrie or, I hope it’s “only” her impersonator, came up with the following hilarious idea this morning (this is how much you can read “for free”):
As you know, my new year’s resolution to explore territories and notions I’ve previously left unchartered came with the desire to actively free myself from the suffocating confinement that I’ve acquiesced to these past 50 plus years.
After raising the concept of mental slavery and mind control, I figured I’d like to know how free I am. It’s one thing realising that Covid was a hoax and that the system we’ve been living in is designed to enslave us, another to take account of how free we actually are.
I’m one of those people who needs to concretise concepts, which sometimes means seeing things in black and white to fully comprehend them. Being able to measure something helps me direct my attention and make the necessary changes.
So this weekend I did A Freedom Test. It was quite illuminating, so perhaps you’d like to take the test too?
Warning: it comes with an annoyance factor as there’s a big chance you will not agree that some of the items indicate degrees of freedom.
So here goes…
The “free” part of the article is adroitly targeting self-important narcissists who need affirmation about who they are, which is possibly the reason why it is only for “paid subscribers.”
Of course, the general subject “we” is used in order to further encourage conformist non-entities to pay; how else can they be “free,” unless they are told that they are? However, to learn they are free or, at least, how they can become “free,” is not free in this case.
I got good news for you, and it’s for free:
You are free,
if you know what you want (you are not where you are coming from, you are where you are going*),
you have something greater to live for than mere survival (so you cannot be manipulated with fear), and
you know who you are without anyone else having to tell you.
The rest are, in legalese, only “niceties.”
What is a woman?
Of course, if you don’t know that, even biologists cannot help you (don’t even try the latest member of the Supreme Court), but that’s a different story.
John Rappoport or, more likely his fake, is also commanding payment from you to read the rest of the following:
First, I want to say some of my semi-best friends are trans women. Not all, but some. At last count, 6. And I have a total of 32 friends.
Out of those 32, four are black, two are Latino, one is a lesbian (on weekends only; she’s married to a male neurosurgeon, for the money). Another friend is a non-binary Army General at the Pentagon. He used to be a priest, but he was investigated by the police in Chicago as “a minor-attracted person.” So he ran away, joined the Army, served as a chaplain, and worked his way up the ladder. ...
Being extremely familiar with Jon’s acerbic sense of humor, I hope, he is joking, but that doesn’t turn out from the appetizer…
Conclusions:
If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it can be a dinosaur impersonating a duck.
If it talks like a swan, it speaks a foreign language to an audience that cannot understand Duckese.

Good points all - but my personal definitions of freedom preclude me from paying to read someone who presumes to offer me either a "freedom test" or to help me define what a woman is. Here on SubStack most of us with any alternative viewpoints are being shadow banned - or worse. If what seems to be a Silicone Valley Corporation, acts like a Silicon Valley corporation, I think we have a clue.
The wordie words that then bait and beg
Gets from me a big Neg :).
I have notice this too- disappointing with Rappoport- I’ve been reading his essays for many years. The’ ideaus’ interruptus is not worth my attention. :)
