That was the objective of the first step in this direction: getting rid of the globalist puppet Yeltsin (president of Russia from 1991 until 1999), who was willing to sell out the country for pennies, signing such contracts between two bottles of vodka.

Putin is using Christianity as the official ideology, just like Orban in Hungary. It works better to build on tradition, especially if the tradition calms the people and makes them docile by convincing them they deserve to be poor and powerless, because they were born in sin, but luckily for them, their anointed leaders receive their power from the divinity, who is creating all their mess, so there is hope.
