My big problem with LEDs is that they are point source emitters. This means that all the energy is concentrated in three narrow bands of light wavelengths, red, green, and blue, with each color having a very high intensity in a narrow range, like a point or a spear, as compared to incandescent bulbs, which spread out the intensity evenly across all of the wavelengths that they generate. The high narrow band intensity of LEDs is bad for the eyes, IMO.
I don't think that silicon LEDs generate much of a quantum field, so are not a problem in that way. Qdot combo LEDs are a way different story altogether, IMO.

We had a mini tornado come through a couple of weeks ago, followed by a very sudden drop in temperature. I ‘suffer’ from insomnia. There’s a reason the word “suffer” is in quotes; it doesn’t feel like a burden to me. It is rather thinking time. Humans have uniquely circumvented this natural trigger by creating artificial light beyond sunset. But happily the effect of extending waking time into late evening beyond sunset is not something that has necessarily brought with it any serious health issues. Early illumination was by fire, subsequently oil lamps, candles and gas lights etc. Later incandescent bulbs became a thing with the advent of electricity. All these light sources had a spectrum in common, wavelengths largely outside of the blue light frequencies. And this is where the issue with the eye -> brain -> pineal gland -> serotonin secretion-> circadian rhythm issues arise.
LED, and other light sources, are a relatively recent development. They have a large component of light falling within the blue light wavelength of the spectrum.
My doctor was completely ignorant of the phenomenon. My optometrist on the other hand was extremely interested and made, at no cost to me, prescription glasses with an orange filter to eliminate the transmission of light in the troubling wavelength. None of this is unknown science, it’s been understood for a long time and is uncontested.
Whilst I like the thinking time at stupid o’clock that is not to say that I don’t believe that there are health implications. Sleep is far more important than many of us appreciate. It is key to cell regeneration and mental health, among many, many other positive physiological benefits.

‘Americans Had Better Wake Up’: Biden Admin Fires Next Regulatory Salvo In Its Push For EVs
The Biden administration proposed a new and ambitious set of fuel economy standards for cars and light-duty trucks Friday, its latest move to prod American consumers towards adopting electric vehicles (EVs).
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a subagency of the Department of Transportation (DOT), unveiled the updated Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards, which would require cars and lighter trucks to improve their respective fuel efficiencies by 2% and 4% starting in 2027, according to a DOT press release announcing the proposal.
The rule would also mandate work vans and pickup trucks to increase their fuel efficiencies by 10% each year, starting in 2030, according to the DOT press release. If manufacturers fail to meet the stipulations of the proposed CAFE standards, they will have to pay punitive fines to the government, according to the rule’s text.
General Motors voiced its concerns to the Biden administration about prospective new fuel economy standards, telling administration officials in mid-July that such standards could cost American automobile manufacturers as much as $100 billion in 2031 and $300 billion over a five-year timeline, according to Reuters. The administration reportedly dismissed General Motors’s concerns, telling the company that their analysis was incorrect.
“This is an EV mandate and further evidence that the elites want normal people to hoof it or take the bus,” Dan Kish, senior fellow at the Institute for Energy Research, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Americans had better wake up, because cars will soon be so expensive that people won’t be able to afford them.”

May we find peace. What do you use to generate electricity? I have been looking at people making it using running water on their land. You are not a hypocrite. 88 metres (nearly 300’). But the top of the aquifer is at about 75m. We used a contractor, the ground here is extremely rocky. Cobalt drill bit, 200mm diameter. We also needed a lot of mining engineer’s calculations & bureaucracy. We live in southern Spain, Andalucía on the Portuguese border, 30km/20m from the Atlantic, in about 1000 acres of remote campo.
Electrickery is 8 x 400W PV cell arrays, 72 cell so 24V each. Wired in series for 192V output for efficiency - they are ground mounted about 30m from the charge controller. 16 x lithium iron phosphate 3.7V cells for a 48V system. 16.8 kWh capacity, 5kW inverter. I fabricated this myself.

I expect raising chickens, growing vegetables, hunting wild animals on our own land etc. will become illegal. For our own good of course. I expect gas/diesel to become unaffordable & a grid down situation takes out fuel pumps anyway. I expect stores to be empty & enforced lockdowns making traditional stores redundant anyway.
We have about 3 tonnes of wheat, corn, rice, lentils & chickpeas. All in oxygen inhibited, dehydrated, sealed, dark, insect & rodent proof, secure, temperature controlled storage. We dehydrate eggs & chicken and pressure can cooked wild boar & venison for long term storage.
We were not vaccinated & I haven’t been sick since January 2020 (I think it was flu, could have been Covid, never tested). But I anticipate that the next bioweapon will be more potent. We have plenty of potassium iodide & ivermectin.
I really can’t do much more to be independent & under the radar but I still don’t expect to carry on any kind of normal life. I fear property tax will become payable only via CBDCs & we won’t be able to afford it because our wealth will be cancelled. Repossession of a mortgage free property will follow & we’ll join the rest in the urban re-education compounds eating bugs & poison.

Just say if you’d like to know more about any of this nonsense. I am indulging in work avoidance right now. We had a mini tornado come through a couple of weeks ago, followed by a very sudden drop in temperature. The roof on the farmhouse is steel framed & I suspect the contraction, perhaps with something dislodged in the wind, resulted in a total bedroom ceiling collapse (we weren’t in the room). I ‘suffer’ from insomnia. There’s a reason the word “suffer” is in quotes; it doesn’t feel like a burden to me. It is rather thinking time. That’s not to say that I don’t think sleep is critical for wellbeing. And so it was that I went to my doctor (years ago when I still had naive faith in their ability to do more than cross reference symptom -> treatment protocol).
I am convinced that the advent of LED lighting, smartphones, tablets and large, widescreen TVs, all encroaching into all of our lives and into the time shortly before normal sleep hours has an effect on sleep.
Serotonin is secreted by the pineal gland that is itself controlled according to the circadian rhythm, the sleep/wake cycle. I am playing somewhat fast and loose here with the medical definition because I am not a medical expert. In anything.

All animals (et al) sleep and the normal pattern is to do so at night. The trigger is lack of sunlight. Humans have uniquely circumvented this natural trigger by creating artificial light beyond sunset. But happily the effect of extending waking time into late evening beyond sunset is not something that has necessarily brought with it any serious health issues. Early illumination was by fire, subsequently oil lamps, candles and gas lights etc. Later incandescent bulbs became a thing with the advent of electricity. All these light sources had a spectrum in common, wavelengths largely outside of the blue light frequencies. And this is where the issue with the eye -> brain -> pineal gland -> serotonin secretion-> circadian rhythm issues arise.
LED, and other light sources, are a relatively recent development. They have a large component of light falling within the blue light wavelength of the spectrum.
My doctor was completely ignorant of the phenomenon. My optometrist on the other hand was extremely interested and made, at no cost to me, prescription glasses with an orange filter to eliminate the transmission of light in the troubling wavelength. None of this is unknown science, it’s been understood for a long time and is uncontested.
Whilst I like the thinking time at stupid o’clock that is not to say that I don’t believe that there are health implications. Sleep is far more important than many of us appreciate. It is key to cell regeneration and mental health, among many, many other positive physiological benefits.
