Well I wonder if the cell tower power supplies have improved in the last decade. In 2011 we had a series of severe tornadoes that took out power to the entire county for 5-7 days. After 3-4 days, the cell towers lost power and went offline. They were not designed for long power outages. The other issue is how to keep the cell phones charged in an extended outage. Hard to imagine a control grid when there is little ability to track the phones.
In 2021, bought a small solar powered generator that can be used in my apartment to charge the phone and other appliances. It’s made by Generark. I have a balcony that receives a good deal of sun for the solar panels. I’m in Florida so I know that makes a difference.
