Diatomaceous Earth is excellent! You can actually dust your dogs w food grade for fleas, I'm not sure about cats. Good for dusting carpets also. I've also read that a sure fire way to kill bed bugs is thru thermal heat, high temperatures. I'm not sure of the exact degrees but heat will kill them. I'm sure there are companies that do this. Fortunately I've never experienced them and pray I never do.
Funny that Ray brought up this subject because I just witnessed an ad on YT about bed bugs (I think it was this product). Seriously, they have everyone scared about everything. Whats worse, head lice? Is that next on their menu? Or will it be a case of ringworm? Last year when I stayed in a hotel for one night, I did check the corners of the mattress, just in case. Next time, maybe I'll camp outside or sleep in my vehicle in a sleeping bag.
Just had bedbugs for the first time. Did the research, followed the containment steps and then applied Diatomaceous Earth liberally on the floor, bed frame, headboard, bed, box frame and interceptors. Used bedbug bags for the mattress and box frame and checked every morning for signs and squashed any seen. Took a couple months because they found a hiding spot in a crevice of the bed frame I didn’t see right away, being dark, and also crevices behind the headboard. They also like seams and tags, as I found in the corners of the bags for the mattress and box spring. The DE sucks the moisture from their bodies and kills them, so I left the DE for quite awhile, even after no sign for a couple months. Beware, when you vacuum it up, it clogs quickly and requires you to clean the filter many times to finish the job.
It all boils down to the fact we are being marketed to death...literally.
Bye-Bye-Bed Bugs solution
Is a non-toxic liquid spray which is the D-earth in some sort of water based solution.
This product saved our sanity.
It also can be sprayed DIRECTLY on the skin ( non-toxic) to calm the pain from the bites.
When we travel and take this spray wherever we go.
Soray down all our luggage and clothes when we get home, use the laundry soap( 1oz/ wash).
First infestation ever was from rescue pet's WASHED dog bed. Lasted 6 months.
Bed bug spray and the D-Earth were the ticket.
Ugg. Will NOT get into details...
But its a psychological battle with these blood suckers.
Once bitten however...
So NO TOXIC CHEMICALS NEEDED.
FOOD -GRADE DIACMATECOUS (sp) Earth
Bye-Bye-Bed -Bug Non-toxic
Worth every penny.

I'm pretty sure diatomaceous earth must be used with caution. For instance, I wouldn't want it in my lungs or in my blood.

That's a good point: it's also about adding to the fear level. Pinning your comment. Oops, I cannot do that, because it's a response.
