While it is true that the love of money is the root of all evil, we swim in the stuff. We sluice it through our life-gills as incessantly necessary holy water. So asketh and giveth awayeth, say eyeth. But how about with a good beat that's easy to dance to?

Congrats to you, Ray! You are one of the many dragon slayers I like to follow. I can either agree or not agree with your articles, but you leave that up to the individual(s). I will add that it certainly gives a free thinking human to be open-minded enough as to whats really going on in this world. Be Forever Blessed and may you continue to grow!

Thank you kindly.

It's so good to hear from someone who understands that this site is not mine; it belongs to my readers. Also, I only inform, entertain, and inspire, but I know that I am never completely right.

Happy Birthday to Ray Horvan’s, The Source, Substack!

🎂 🍨 🎈

As a new subscriber, I’m still figuring out the landscape and getting to know and understand you better but what I’m seeing this far is very impressive!

I feel my time here is well-spent and hopefully, I will have a worthwhile comments to contribute, as well.

Regarding this particular article, your ground-rules sound perfectly reasonable; most of your readers would tend to follow this line of online behavior, intuitively, or shape-up on their own with some clear, respectful feedback leading to self-reflection -> behavioral self-correction. Those folk who are not comfortable with this environment will no doubt pass on through.

As a suggestion, would you consider offering PayPal a payment option? I’d love to buy you and the ‘missus a coffee!

But I’m hesitant to share my email address for the purposes of buying you - (or anyone else) - a coffee.

And in using PayPal, I, and others) can specify specific payment amounts.

Last thoughts on this comment:

My writing style will never be in the form of the classic: introduction, three-to-five supporting paragraphs then ending nicely with a clear and concise summary.

Nor will it ever be crisply structured with Roman numerals, alphabet letters, numbers, and bullets.

So try to be patient with me. :)

Question: are swear symbols/substitute permitted? ‘

Cuz sometimes.. u just gotta say it

Ray, I have had a blanket policy in place since 2017 not to ever either give or especially ask for any money with regards to the truth. It was a big No No in the community on YT I was a big part of at that time. My channels were not ever monitized. Asking for money or selling things is still on my long Checklist of controlled opposition red flags. That said, you are the only person on substack I would consider financially supporting. That means you have my full confidence (which isn't easy to get) and I trust you. Your point of view is always valuable and you really challenge people to question their assumptions which I love. Anyway, I think your a treasure! Keep up the good work.

As you well know, I am not selling the truth. Everything on my site is free. I've never sold myself out. In 2005, when I set up the five-page-long recursive algorithm for communication between AI and humans in natural languages, I chose not to sell, because I knew that whoever would own it, would own the world. It delayed the process, but someone else figured it out a few years later.

This site was never about the money. I just wanted to leave this world in honor, and my time is slowly up, and it seems the fruits are coming in for a first harvest.

So, as you and hopefully others well know, I am not asking for money, but I am grateful for the support.

At this point, my reader's advice to set this up has brought in $105 minus the 20% transaction fee.

Whenever you think I'm a treasure, please, count my wife in. Without her, this site would not be the same. She is Hungarian-Canadian and her name is Monika.

She is doing a lot of research. She finds new topics and illustrations. She proofreads my texts. I also do those, but I am only one person. I am the writer and I am the one who puts everything together. I have to keep the comment section within the confines of civility.

I have been on here a bit longer, and one of the few to write more than you I suspect, addressing issues that are complex and using words more than 6 letters long, vocabulary outside the 800 words most Americans use while reading at the 8th grade level. Writing has become a limited audience career, focusing the creations on the attention spans of the audience you hope to reach. Expecting others to pay for wisdom or valuable directions is apparently not an objective easily reached unless you are willing to create what people demand, under 750 word essays, less than 7 minute videos down from 15 minutes of attention span just 5 years ago. Ooops too long a response. personally, I am generally happy to see others actually go through the pain in the nect process to comment or give feedback after getting the emails. I hope the platform works harder at getting exposure to dedicated writers and not just focus on the success of the few, like a casino focused on making money instead of customers winning. Casinos are not paid for by winners so focusing on them will not work if this is supposed to be more than a cheap version, no people at the gaming tables and the illusion of great traffic or daylight to keep us playing without winning day after day. Why can't we barter paid subscription status with other writers for example. simple fix.

Ray Horvath, "The Source" :)'s avatar

Exactly. That's why I settled for journalism with a vocabulary of a 14-year-old (well, that mark might be a tad overestimated by now, but I'm talking about 30 years ago).

In 1991, the average American's attention span was 15 seconds. Twenty years later, it was eight.

Long comment are fine, and my readers usually make sure that they are worth reading, exactly the way you are doing it. The ones that were not, I usually banned, but I just issued a general amnesty to those banned, and I'm looking forward to the outcome, although whomever I will ban this time, are unlikely to receive another amnesty.

It is extremely difficult to find writers who are flexible enough to admit, when they are wrong. On the other hand, there are at least 1-15 honest (and small) authors out there, but one must make sure to read between the lines:

https://rayhorvaththesource.substack.com/p/what-to-read-now-and-how

Actually, it is possible to barter. I never pay, but I popularize others by them showing up in my profile as "paid subscriptions."

Yours is one of my fave substacks for Covid info and challenging my assumptions. May I suggest setting up a “Buy Me a Coffee” subscription where one does not have to commit to a monthly sub? We all know times are tough and will be getting tougher. I can support more on this type of sub.

Actually, it is one of my principles that I am not writing about anything that other authors have written about, unless I have something to add. I also try to be the first the break the news AND add something unique to it.

Thank you for your support; I'll check the "buy me a coffee" version, although people can always enable or disable payments.
