I don't think it could be any kind of mere diversion that blue things were not incinerated, what could possibly be the point? It is just the case that the lasers could not achieve ignition point with those objects due to their colour as far as I am aware, though not being a laser expert, someone might yet amaze me with scientific data of some kind to prove something or other else, haha.
That's what I've read about laser sparing blue as well. Some sources still stated that celebrities had been warned to have blue roofs.

I watched several videos on how lasers can be programmed for strategic reasons to burn or not burn a variety of colors. The blue color that doesn't didn't burn in Lahaina is due to the programming of the laser. It could have just as easily been programmed to not burn yellow or red, etc.,. So the question becomes - Why is blue excluded?

I think the color blue is the same as the helmets of the UN personnel.
To me, the laser story sounds like a diversion. Including the blue color can support the diversion further.
