Nicotine, as you also observed it, definitely has a detoxifying effect, and most, if not all, those "syndromes" are invented illnesses resulting from poisoning.

Once someone manages to quit for a few years, "only" psychological addiction pertains, but it can be harder to surpass than the dependency on the substance. The only qualifier I would add is that Katherine Watt’s Bailiwick News cannot be construed as a “popular site.” It may be popular within the Substack community or readers, but the bulk of her work consists of citation and analysis of legal authorities. The masses who consume “popular” sites’ content do not have the critical reading skills to read and understand Watt’s analysis.
As I stated several times before, she is a great legal analyst, but there is no legal solution. Finally, she seems to get it, too...
400 "Likes" in a couple of days looks quite popular, despite her previous abortive attempts at showing legal ways of the public gaining some power which, of course, it never had.
Yes, I see she has a larger readership than she used to. What I meant is that there are different gradations of “popular” sites: the people who uncritically watch CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News are not consumers of Watt’s site.
It’d be great to get those folks reading your Substack and Watt’s Substack (and I have tried to make that happen by posting links to both of your work). But, alas.
